Head unit keeps crashing
Hi,
I hope there is someone here is hopefully able to help me.
Last year I purchased a android head unit and it was working perfectly but recently it began acting up. It suddenly crashed on my way back from work and would not turn back on. After not using the car for a day it started working fine for awhile but crashed again and keeps doing so after driving for about 20 minutes.
I have taken out the radio to look for any loose connections but the issue still occurs. There are no obvious signs of problems with the wiring and the fuse looks fine also. I can't find any reason for it to be happening. I have attached a photo of what happens when the radio and what I radio looks likrto this post in hopes it might be a bit more helpful. I'm not entirely sure how to upload a video but I do have some.
I can provide any more info if that will help

Hello
The dead android man does not have anything to do with fuses or bad connections to the headunit.
This is the android firmware in a right muddle and if it returns after disconnecting the car battery (or removing and discnnecting) the head unit, the first thing to do is a factory reset.
The reset will wipe the headunit are restore the factory image, you lose the apps and account but you can sign back into this easily enough,
The reset will also, possibly remove and not restore some of the factory apps or even fix the problem but it is the first thing to do as you don't have much else left.
How to do the factory restore?
If you can get it to boot up with enough encouragement, look in the system menu for the factory reset and follow that.
Other methods for the 2GB/32GB basic units is the five finger reset.
If you have a reset or RST button hole (top left on yours), press in an unfolded paperclip then immediately start tappin the screen with five fingers
The headunit will be looking for many taps of the screen in 5 different places in quick succession for it to enter a mode where you have a many to factory restore (and wipe) the headunit.

Hi Pie-Man,
Thanks for the reply.
I have actually already factory reset the device and it still seems to be happening. Maybe I should factory reset it one more time to see.
Is there anything else I could try and see what it is?
https://streamable.com/4mvqwh this is an example of what happens. It makes a kind of thud sound when it goes off.

You can check the power is good.
Does it only happen when the engine is running, or on battery or any other times like when you use the headlights or wipers? Try to find a common denominator like when the volume is on MAX or some other time.
It can be difficult to track down power and earths but they start with a visual inspection of the connectors and connections then a meter to measure voltages to earth,
If everything else is good, then the unit can be faulty.
